Storage space required in Tullamore

If you have ever visited our office, you may have noticed how small it is. We have traps, holding cages, dog crates, cat carriers and rabbit cages taking up too much space, in an already overcrowded small storage space. Do you have any small storage space close to our office at Market Place, (off Market Square) in Tullamore, that would be willing to let us store just cages & crates when not in use please?

If you have any suggestions or can offer us a small space, please email offalyspca@live.com or phone 086 3785584

Meet Bella who is a 3-year-old French bulldog. She is vaccinated microchipped and neutered. She would be best suited to a home with children age 10+ and an enclosed garden is a must. Bella also ignores cats - if you are interested, please call 086 8262986 or email offalyspca@live.com
Please note: Homecheck and Adoption fee will apply.

OSPCA Visit To Edenderry Library

Thank you to Edenderry library for inviting our our handsome Education Officer, Denis, and his human assistant Colette, to inform attendees all about the responsibilities of pet ownership.
Colette explained about puppy farms, how dogs need to be microchipped and vaccinated and how we should behave when we meet a new dog. She explained the responsibility of pet care and how they need vet visits, grooming, training, a warm bed, food, water and lots of attention. There certainly was no shortage of attention for Denis who was the centre of attention and a provided cuddles to his adoring fans. You can see a video of our education duo on our Education page at https://www.offalyspca.ie/educate

Urgent warning issued to Irish pet owners over potentially deadly heatwave

The Irish Blue Cross (https://www.bluecross.ie/) has appealed to the public to protect their pets from the heat as temperatures are expected to soar over the coming days, with some counties potentially reaching 31 degrees on Saturday.
Heatwaves such as this pose a very serious health risk to pets, particularly dogs, cats and smaller furry animals. Unlike people, these animals are highly susceptible to heatstroke and dehydration as many of them struggle to regulate their body temperature.
Dr Sophie Olah, Head of Veterinary Services at The Irish Blue Cross, explained: "While most people look forward to and enjoy hot weather, us humans have the luxury of being able to wear lighter clothes. Unfortunately, our pets are unable to do this.
"So, over the next few days we would advise not walking dogs, unless it’s very early in the morning or the temperature has dropped sufficiently in the late evening to do so. It’s the temperature that’s important when deciding if it’s safe to walk your dog, rather than if the sun is shining."
