Meet Alfie - A dog nobody wants!

It's with a heavy heart we once again put up a post looking for a home for a fantastic dog. Every time we put Alfie availability for adoption there is absolutely no response. Alfie is a year old lurcher x and is medium sized full of life. He is everybody's friend, he loves people and other dogs. He will chase cats but only for fun, as he likes to jump around with enthusiasm! A house with children 10years + would be the most suitable.

He loves his walks and playing chase but also loves to cuddle on the sofa. He would suit a home with or without another dog. An enclosed garden is a must and maybe someone who is home part of the day. Alfie is vaccinated microchipped and neutered. If you can open your heart and home to this beautiful boy please call 086 8262986

In memory of James - RIP

The OSPCA deeply appreciate a donation made to us, we cannot say it better than the card we received with the donation, which reads:

"We lost our dear friend and work colleague James Shepard in April and we collected €300 in his memory to give the OSPCA as James loved animals and we know he would be so proud knowing that so many animal's will be helped, in his memory. James leaves behind a huge void he was a man full of life and love, compassion and kindness to everyone and to animals animals too.

We are delighted to give €300 to the OSPCA to help you with the wonderful work you do.

Best wishes, Muiriosa Foundation Tullamore"

May James rest in peace.

Dogs and the heat - Journal Online Article

The Journal's online news has put together a handy guide to help keep your dog safe when it's hot out.

Hot weather is a major seasonal risk for dogs. Unlike us, dogs can’t sweat much; they mainly cool off by panting, which makes them more prone to overheating than most people think. Every summer, lots of dogs get sick from the heat, and sadly, many don’t make it. Knowing how heat affects your dog, what their limits are, and how you can help is super important for any responsible dog owner.

Deserving dogs in our care that nobody wants!

We recently shared information about these two amazing dogs available for adoption, but we haven't received any enquiries.

Lola (picture) is an 8-year-old JRT who behaves much younger than her age. She is housetrained and loves her walks and cuddles, making her ideal for a retired person or couple seeking a loyal companion.

Alfie is a 1-year-old lab mix of medium size. He is energetic, enjoys playing and chasing his ball, and walks well on a lead. He is also housetrained. He would thrive in a home with children aged 10 ore older, he gets on well with other dogs.

An enclosed garden is essential. Both dogs are neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. If you can offer either of them a home, please call 086 8262986. An adoption fee and home check apply.

Please visit our adoption page for further details https://www.offalyspca.ie/foster-adopt on both dogs.
