Jeff is available for adoption

Meet Jeff, a 4 year old Pomerium, who is a fabulous little dog but sadly nobody is interested in giving him a chance at a forever home. He is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and house trained. He loves his walks and playing with his ball. He is not cat tested. His ideal home would be someone who is home a lot and where children are over 10years old. If you are interested in this gorgeous little man please call 086 8262986

APPEAL- unwanted or no longer used small & medium-large dog kennels.

Do any of our followers in “OFFALY” area have “no longer needed/used dog kennels” that they might be willing to give us please? These will be used outdoor shelters for some small feral cat colony groups. These colonies are all neutered, parasite treated, monitored and being fed locally by kind and caring people.
Many colonies have SHELTER but some do not and are sleeping rough in ditches or in the open.
If you can help by donating an unwanted but in good condition ( water/wind proof ) dog kennel please email offalyspca@live.com or contact 0860222432. We’d really appreciate your help.

RESERVED - Buba is available for adoption

Buba is a 1 year old terrier cross. A couple out walking their dog near bogland came across Buba, emaciated and covered in fleas in a drain. They very kindly rushed her to the vets; as a result she came into our care and has thrived in foster home. She is now available for adoption, is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. She is full of energy loves to play, walks well on the lead and also loves to cuddle. She is housetrained and gets on well with other dogs and cats. A home with older children would be best for her and an enclosed garden is a must. If you can give BUBA the loving home she deserves please call 086 8262986. A homecheck and adoption fee applies.

Happy Mother's Day from your pet!

Mother’s Day can be a day on which we also celebrate the bond between our pets and their human Mums. We are sure if they could, they would thank you for the love, security and joy you bring into their lives every day. You can undertake some fun activities with your dog, and, as this writer plans to do, cuddle with her cats. Taking a walk in the park or sharing a special treat can be wonderful ways to show your appreciation for your furry companions. Happy Mother's Day, be they human or pet Mums, the two often go together with mutual loving.

Like us animals feel the cold too!

As the temperatures remain cold, please be mindful that your pets need warmth too. The best solution is to bring them indoors. Keeping kennels warm during winter is vital for your dog's comfort and health. Here are some ideas to ensure your dog's kennel is warm: Insulation: Use materials like foam boards, straw, or reflective insulation to insulate the kennel walls and floor. Bedding: Provide warm bedding such as thermal blankets or straw. Heating Sources: Consider using heated dog beds, pads, or bowls. Placement: Position the kennel in a sheltered area away from prevailing winds and ensure it receives as much sunlight as possible. Ensure you regularly check the kennel for damage and replace bedding as required.

The Humane World for Animals has some great ideas on how to help feral cats during cold weather, read the article online at https://www.humaneworld.org/en/resources/how-care-outdoor-cats-winter

The New Puppy - a thought provoking Poem

It’s now a week since Christmas and I’m really feeling fine,
I’m tired but quite contented from the fun that has been mine.
Day one was full of laughter, cuddles and great play,
“Look here’s our lovely puppy”, is what they’d proudly say.
They took me to the park for a lovely run around
And showed me to their friends, and friends they did abound.

It’s two weeks now since Christmas and I suppose I am all right,
But I’d love to go out walking and I’m lonely too at night,
They’re too busy now to pat me and the park’s too far away,
Life’s not the same and that’s for sure as it was on Christmas Day.
I used to sleep so cosily at the bottom of the bed,
But now my lonely nights are spent out in the garden shed.

It’s now a month since Christmas, I have no wish to complain,
O, how much worse it could be out there in the rain,
But there’s no one now to comfort me as I lie there in the dark
And, o, they get so angry if at times I chance to bark.
Ah, now and then I feel quite sad and I can’t quite understand
What changed so much in my new home, where life was really grand.

It’s two months now since Christmas and things are looking bleak,
They now say I’m naughty if I play or accidentally leak,
They now no longer want me, yes they no longer care,
They think me just a nuisance and wish I wasn’t there.
I’m off, I hear, to rescue or the dog place in the sky,
Folk should think long and hard before a puppy they might buy.
